We may have got a little ahead of ourselves thinking about Easter already. Now that the sun has come out and the Daffodils are cropping up everywhere we’ve suddenly remembered how beautiful spring is and what a lovely time to get married.

Bird House Favours

At WeDoWeddingAccessories we have a fantastic range of Spring Wedding Favours that will leave your guests cooing in the aisles. A plus one with a price tag
One girl in Greenwich was so put-off at the idea of showing up to her brother’s wedding without a date she decided to put her plus-one invite up for auction. With a current price tag of £102 all money raised from the auction is going to charity. Want a chance to head on this date? The girl requests that you must not have bad shoes and you must have your own teeth and hair!

72 Day Itch

It’s tricky to avoid this one but top of the celeb wedding news this week was the rather short marriage of Kim Kardashian. Just 72 days after saying ‘I do’ the reality TV star has filed for divorce. Adding further fuel to the idea that their wedding was just a big publicity stunt, the celebrity couple have parted ways. The biggest reaction? The designers of her wedding dress replica are up in arms with worry that no one will want to buy it!

Busted – social media style
One keen bride has been caught out this week when her husband found recent pictures of her marrying another man on a social network site! The woman claimed that she thought she was divorced by the court charged £500 fine suggested otherwise. So if you plan on carrying out a bit of bigamy, make sure the snaps don’t go on Facebook!

We’re back round to Sunday again and it’s been a heartbreaking week for Apple fans as founder Steve Jobs died on Wednesday. I’m working from a Mac and whether you love the shiny white products or loathe them, it’s impossible not to acknowledge what an important man he was. On a more cheery note, wedding fever has been in full force this week throughout the world and at WeDoCompany we’re bringing the highlights straight to you. It’s Sunday so sit back and forget about the washing up for a couple of minutes.

Paul McCartney weds for a third time
Today Beatles star  Paul McCartney heads to the Marylebone Registrar Office to marry his third wife, Nancy Shevell. The pair were seen heading out for a pre-wedding gym session this morning and have opted, even though between them they’re worth £700 million, for a small ceremony with only 30 guests. Apparently Paul is to serenade her during the ceremony with a song he has written just for the occasion.

Phillipinne Mass Wedding
This week has seen a pretty incredible mass wedding take place in the Phillipinnes as part of Family Celebration Week. 42 couples stood together to say their vows as part of the 17th ceremony organised by the City Social Welfare and Development Office. Not quite the intimate occasion some desire but the couples are said to have enjoyed sharing their moment.

Tom Cruises’ dodgy dad dancing?
There are plenty of wedding videos out there that have gone viral but none quite as spectacularly as Tom Cruise this week. Whilst attending a friend’s wedding, Cruise took to the dance floor in a slightly surreal dance-off that had the crowds (and the internet) gobsmacked. See the video here.

We’ve had some great responses to our question last week about autumnal weddings. GetNetworking told us “we got married in a barn, used sun flowers & Mason jars for decor…loved it!” and her tips for autumnal weddings were “Plan for weather changes, Think outside the box, Infuse your personality into each detail & Ask for help!”. Rehearsaldinner said “I luv Bonfires, Barns and Burlap for Fall Weddings!” Cosying up to a bonfire when it’s getting a bit nippy outside sounds perfect. I was slightly clueless when it came to the big Doctor Who wedding this week but @ItsHappyHands told us that it was fantastic.

The leaves are turning orange and the nights are getting shorter, autumn is definitely getting into full swing. I think this is a beautiful time of year to get married. There’s just as much chance you’ll get rain as any other time of year in Britain but the whole sky has a slightly pinky light and everything feels quite still. To me it’s very romantic and I think saying ‘I do’ amongst the stunning shades of autumn sounds pretty lovely.

Autumn Wedding Favours

If you are getting married in the autumn, the season itself is a really nice theme for a wedding day. Leaves, trees, fruits and nuts all have something autumnal about them and are easy additions. These Leaf Wine Stoppers are great favours for an autumnal wedding, they are simple but represent the time of year beautifully. Alternatively these Mini Acorn Candles are something a little more unique. They may not be the longest lasting candles you’ll find but they definitely look the part! If you’re looking for something a little more DIY, why not try making your own favours. Find some brown or orange little pots, or even these boxes, and fill them with autumnal coloured sweets – pick out the orange and brown Smarties or stick in some rolos mixed in with some nuts. If you’re feeling particularly creative you could even give mini jars of homemade jam from your surplus fruit! For decoration, rather than scatter the table with confetti, use conkers or acorns!

There are loads of great ideas for keeping the autumnal theme running throughout your wedding. If you have any great ones, share them with us on our Facebook or Twitter pages.

We’re moving into Autumn pretty quickly now and at WeDoCompany we’ve been donning the apron and using up the garden crops to make some lovely jam (as modeled by little Oscar on our Facebook page!) The residents of Wysteria Lane would be proud! But now it’s Sunday, not a day for chores, so sit back and have a catch up on the latest of our favourite news.

All at sea

Big news in the cruise world this week as Cunard is starting proceedings to lift its ban on weddings without a minister at sea. For 171 years British laws have stated that no couple can marry at sea without a religious minister. Cunard is applying for permission to allow weddings on three of its boats that can be carried out by the captain! Princess Cruises already have the consent and carry out hundreds of weddings each year, some of their ships even have an onboard chapels!

Rumour has it

With wedding fever still running strong in the Royal Family, rumours are flying around about the princess’ younger sister. Pippa Middelton has been spotted looking very loved up with her partner Alex Loudon, starting all sorts of gossip about a potential engagement. Will they, won’t they? We’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled.

Keep on track

We found this article online from the Detroit Free Press that gives 15 ways to keep wedding planning on track. It offers some great advice about how to keep the bombardment of to-do lists at ease. It’s mostly obvious stuff about being organised but there’s a few tips and tricks in there you might not have thought of before. If you have anything you’d like to add to the advice, let us know!

Hats Off Wine Pourer/Stopper

I don’t want to start any debates but, to me, men are so much more difficult to buy for than women. Most of the time us girls are happy with flowers, chocolates maybe a diamond or two (!) but men are a lot harder to get right.

Choosing wedding favours can just depend on the theme of your wedding but other times, if you’re having a reasonably simple or classic do, they need to be suitable for either women or men. Stuck? Don’t panic, FanGifts4u has the perfect solution. We have a whole category on our website dedicated to wedding favours for men. Ranging from mints to bottle stoppers, you’re sure to find some suitable for your big day.

These ‘Hats Off’ Wine Pourers are perfect for any tipple-inclined males making an appearance to the wedding.  Decorated like a groom’s tux, they can be inserted into a wine bottle to help pour or used with the provided stopper to ensure their wine lasts as long as possible!

Love Grows Picket Fence Seed Favours

I think some of the retailers in the UK need a reminder that it is still August. Today I saw my first Christmas crackers for sale, is the country going mad? I know everyone gets ready for Christmas earlier and earlier every year but August!? It’s still summer, sort of.

Make sure that you keep the summer vibe going over the next few weeks and add some flowery favours to your big day. These ‘Love Grows’ Picket Fence Seed Favours are perfect! They make a very summery addition to your tables and are a fantastic gift for guests to take away. The paper picket fences can be planted into a compost-filled pot and add a bit of water and sunshine to grow some stunning wild flowers.

Add your own mini sign into the fence to give it an extra personal touch. Include the name of the bride and groom and the wedding date or use them as place cards and assign each one with a guest’s name.
